Families can enroll students in Edina Virtual Pathway at any time. Students may need to wait until the beginning or midpoint of a semester to begin their studies. New semesters in the Edina Public Schools district typically begin the last week of August (semester one) and January (semester two).

Edina Virtual Pathway is a full-time online learning program designed to provide a comprehensive high school experience. Because our curriculum is built around full-time enrollment, we are not currently able to accept part-time students.

Yes. Edina Virtual Pathway students who meet graduation requirements earn a high school diploma through Edina Public Schools and are invited to celebrate alongside their in-person classmates at the district’s commencement ceremony.

Edina Virtual Pathway is a tuition-free program for Minnesota residents. Students living outside of Minnesota, or those participating in long-term travel, may need to pay tuition based on residency requirements.

No. All required books and materials are provided to students!

Edina Virtual Pathway offers Chromebooks for checkout at no cost to students. While students are welcome to use their own devices, EVP’s school-provided Chromebooks ensure all students have the tools they need for a successful online learning experience.

Students are invited to come in person at the start of the school year to get their pictures taken for the Edina High School yearbook and school IDs, and to pick up materials. Families who do not live nearby can arrange for other methods to receive materials and for their child’s picture to appear in the yearbook.

Edina Virtual Pathway students are eligible to participate in the Post Secondary Enrollment Option, or PSEO. Most commonly undertaken by 11th and 12th graders, but available to sophomores, the PSEO program awards simultaneous high school and college credit for successful students at no cost. The PSEO program requires students to be accepted by a participating state college or university, and EVP’s counselors can support students through the application process.

Students do not need to log in at a certain time, as most of the learning at Edina Virtual Pathway is asynchronous. However, starting in Fall 2025, each core area class (Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science) will offer one live session per week.

As a parent or guardian of an online student, your involvement is important to your child’s success. By creating a quiet, distraction-free study space and helping them set aside time for coursework, you can provide the structure and support they need to excel. Staying engaged with your child’s learning and maintaining open communication with teachers can also ensure they are on track and feel supported throughout their online education experience.

Edina Virtual Pathway provides thorough support for students in need of special education services or the supports afforded by a 504 plan. Our team includes highly qualified special education teachers and a 504 plan coordinator. EVP teachers work to ensure that instruction is individualized to meet every student’s needs. If a student has a need that requires in-person support, the EVP team would coordinate with a family around the best way to meet those needs, even if it’s through a different placement.

Students at Edina Virtual Pathway receive personalized support throughout the college application process. Our school counselors guide students every step of the way — from researching colleges to preparing applications — using the same trusted approach as Edina High School, Minnesota’s top college-prep high school. Whether students are exploring two-year, four-year, or other postsecondary options, they’ll have the tools and guidance they need to take the next step with confidence.

EVP students will participate in an online orientation before the start of the school year through Schoology, our learning management system. This orientation will include:

• Understanding your teacher’s Schoology page
• Overview of digital tools in Edina and how to access them
• Communication between home and school in a digital environment
• Accessing resources (such as counseling and support) 
• Introduction of digital learning platforms for online students
• Strategies for success
   

All Edina Virtual Pathway students are eligible for Edina High School clubs, activities, and athletics. Whether it’s joining Edina’s award-winning robotics team, trying out for tennis, or attending the Homecoming Dance, EVP students have opportunities to pursue their interests and connect with other students.

Yes! EVP’s core-area courses are approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), making it a great choice for student-athletes and college-bound learners.
