After nine weeks of research, experiment design, and proposal writing, a local panel of evaluators has recommended our community's top three flight experiments for final consideration. These experiments will be reviewed formally by the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education Step 2 Review Board, which will select one of the three proposals to be sent to the International Space Station.
Edina High School senior Eliza Neumann traveled to Morocco to combat inequities in science education as an extension of her Global Scholars capstone project. She raised nearly $1500 to develop an educational garden and purchase lab equipment for Sidi ou Sidi Lycee, a school in Taroudant, Morocco.
Edina High School senior Ilhan Elmi is a QuestBridge Finalist, advancing her to a lucrative scholarship opportunity. Finalists rank their prospective colleges from a list of highly competitive colleges and universities in the country. If a college chooses to admit (or match) the Finalist, the student receives the Match Scholarship, a full four-year scholarship worth over $200,000.
Two Edina High School student-run publications have been recognized for their outstanding work. Zephyrus, the EHS student newspaper, and Whigrean, the EHS yearbook, received All State publications awards from the Journalism Educators of Minnesota. In addition, the Minnesota High School Press Association announced the 2022 Gold Medallion Winners for student journalism. These awards recognize the 2021-22 academic year’s top individual journalism work.
